FEYA ROSE
INDIE AUTHOR
I first decided that I wanted to be an author at age seven, crafting fantasy worlds on the back of old index cards and scrap paper with my childhood friend. While she went on to write and produce screenplays, I first delved into writing lyrical free-verse poetry and short stories to publish in various youth journals and anthologies.
I studied at St. Michaels’ University School under the tutelage of published author Terrance Young, then continued my education into the University of Victoria where I studied creative writing, journalism, marketing, theater, child and youth care, psychology, and philosophy. However, when I was forced to take an indefinite medical hiatus, literally fighting for my life to survive an illness, I started to lament that I would never get to share my multitude of story ideas with my loved ones around me.
I never gave up, though.
I first shifted my focus to studying writing craft through online resources, such as Jessica Brody’s “Save the Cat!” courses, and listening to webinars and interviews with authors around the world. Then I began to work on my mindset through coaching videos and self-help workbooks in order to find the confidence I needed to move forward with my dream.
I’m now taking the steps alongside my sisters in the Quill & Cup writing community to pursue my literary goals, with the aim to publish my debut novel / trilogy soon (2025).
My work is inspired by my strong attachment to nature, my wanderlust filled adventures across the continent, and my deep dives into old folk lore and traditional fairy tales. Mixed with my overactive imagination and strange magical dreams that sometimes haunt me, I’m trying to use these experiences and interests to inspire and fuel my passion for writing.
In my personal life, I am caregiver of my fur babies, a lover of herbal teas, and a firm believer in the Oxford Comma. I’ve never stopped dreaming of visiting faraway realms, pursuing magical adventures, and meeting a handsome fated love.
